Proche Orient : Spanish provinces endorse boycott of Israel

Israeli police carry away the body of an alleged Palestinian assailant who was shot dead during a stabbing attack outside Jerusalem’s Old City on 23 December 2015

As many as 25 Spanish municipalities and regional governments have endorsed a resolution to boycott Israel.

The Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) General Coordinator Mahmoud Nawajah told Quds Press that the resolution comes as part of the Places Without Racism initiative which aims to isolate the occupation, its municipalities and institutions. Nawajah said the Spanish municipalities and regional governments agreed on an academic boycott of Israel’s universities, institutions and research centres, stressing its importance as a step towards comprehensively isolating the occupation.
